Godalming Confederation of Schools

Finding quality childcare is very important for parents.  On this page we list infomation and provide links to help you find:

Holiday childcare and Holiday Activities

Parents asked us to let them know about the different activities and clubs available during the school holidays, be it holiday clubs providing childcare or activities to keep their children active and interested.

You can view the latest lists below. Currently we produce leaflets for the CHRISTMAS, EASTER and SUMMER holidays. Although we don't produce leaflets for the half term holidays, you'll find that lots of the organisations listed provide clubs and activities at half terms too, so you can still use the contact info to check out what they might be offering.

There are some fantastic holiday activities available locally, from sports to craft and drama activities and children’s multi-activity weeks. In response to your requests, we’ve included more for our older pupils, so on our leaflets check out the activities indicated with a Good for Teens flash.

From Tots to Teens, there's Something for Everyone

Printable copies of our most recent holiday leaflets contain lots of useful contact details:

KOOSA Kids Holiday Club at St Edmund's Primary School in Godalming opened in the summer of 2012 and fulfils a need for school holiday child care provision in the Godalming area.   The opening of the holiday club has mainly come about through demand from parents at St Edmund's, Busbridge and other surrounding schools, and the club has proven to be very popular from the outset.   During school holidays, we have exclusive access to the entire school, however the club is mainly based from the school hall, library and computer rooms.  We also have daily access to the extensive and secure playground areas.   The club is registered with Ofsted and up to 48 children are able to attend on any given day. For more information visit the Koosa Kids website.   Ofsted Registration Number: EY433359

The Wharf is a local authority Nursery School and Sure Start Children's Centre in Godalming.  The Nursery provides free early years education for children aged 3 to 5 and is accessible to all but gives priority to families with a higher level of need.  The Wharf has been educating the young children of Godalming since 1947.  In addition to normal term time nursery hours, The Wharf's Sure Start Children's Centre (operating from The Eashing Building behind Green Oak School) offers extended hours childcare from 8am to 6pm for children on roll and other activities including holiday activities.  Places are limited; please contact the nursery for details.

Their professional staff consists of well qualified and experienced teachers and nursery nurses.  Staff turnover is low and staff to child ratios are excellent.  The nursery has places for 48 children at any time.  26 younger children attend part-time session (morning or afternoon) and 22 older children attend full-time. The nursery is very popular and children’s names go on the waiting list from age one.

The Wharf Children's Centre’s support for families, childminders and other early years settings includes the following regular activities:

  • Breakfast Club for children attending the Wharf, 8-9am, term time
  • Holiday Club at the Wharf in most holidays and half terms, for all children aged 3-7
  • 'Booked' parent and toddler sessions (Stay and Play) at the Wharf, 6 sessions a week, for 0-3 year olds (term time only)

  • A Speech and Language Therapist working with children with language difficulties one day per week.
  • Lunch Club.  Children in their last term before school can enjoy a school lunch, learn to try new foods and get used to eating away from home.

Farncombe Church of England Infant and Nursery School provides a caring and supportive environment and has high expectations of success. The staff team is committed to creating an enthusiasm for learning and providing the best education to enable all our children to achieve their full potential.

Ages 3-5 The Foundation Stage
The Foundation Stage Curriculum begins when children reach the age of 3 and continues through Nursery and Reception. It prepares the children for learning later in life by introducing the basic skills and knowledge of each subject of the National Curriculum. At the heart of all teaching and learning in the Foundation Stage is play.

Learning for young children is a rewarding and enjoyable experience in which they explore, investigate, discover, create, practise, rehearse, repeat, revise and consolidate their developing skills, understanding and attitudes. During the Foundation Stage many of these aspects of learning are brought together effectively through playing and talking. The Foundation Stage curriculum is divided into six areas of learning. These areas of learning always overlap, and children generally experience cross curricular activities. A lesson based around spiders, for example, may include drawing spiders, tracing web patterns to develop basic handwriting skills, counting and adding to create 8, role play and science work using magnifying glasses, cooking spider shaped biscuits and singing songs about spiders!
